Semi-intensive courses

What is a semi-intensive course?

What is a semi-intensive course?

What is a semi-intensive course?

Our semi-intensive courses are designed to get you a license in 8 or 9 weeks from absolute beginner. We  prefer these over week-long intensive courses as they allow for private practice, reflection and importantly rest between sessions.

Course length is tailored to suit the individual so if you have some previous experience, we can discuss this and tailor a course to suit you.

An average beginner will usually need a 40 or 45 hour course if they have the means to practice privately outside of lessons.

A semi-intensive course isn’t the answer for everyone. As the name would suggest, they can be intense and require the ability to concentrate for long periods. .

Weekend Availability

What is a semi-intensive course?

We understand that our students have busy lives, which is why we offer our semi-intensive courses on weekends.

This also helps our instructors keep a healthy work/life balance allowing them to not commit to weekends all year round.

Unfortunately we don’t offer regular lessons on weekends.

Lessons

What is a semi-intensive course?

Private Practice

Semi-intensive lessons are 5 hours and include a break of around 30 minutes. This can and will be tailored to suit the individual learner.

Lessons are structured and are client-centred to ensure learners get the most out of every session. We follow the same curriculum as our regular lessons however, the longer sessions allow us to have a broader practice area.

We would normally start lessons at 8am and finish around 13:30. We are however always happy to discuss alternative timings to suit the learner.

Private Practice

Private Practice

Practicing what you have learnt in your own car outside of lessons is very much encouraged.

This gives learners much needed confidence and helps keep their skills and awareness fresh.

Help and advice on private practice is always available free of charge from your instructor.

Course Requirements

Valid provisional license

Theory Test Pass - whilst not essential, this is very much preferred.

Full course fee paid in advance

Excellent concentration ability

A positive can-do attitude

Excellent Pass Rates

Over 90% of our learners completing semi-intensive courses pass first time. For context, around 50% of learners nationally pass first time.

We believe this is in part due to our comprehensive training structure, ensuring all bases are covered, and learners get help with test nerves. This coupled with a learner who can stay focused for a 5 hour session means the 40 minute test is a breeze.

Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at info@ohsavvy.co.uk if you cannot find an answer to your question.

We only plan ahead for weekends however, occasionally we do offer a weekday semi-intensive course. This usually happens if we get a couple of passes from learners that normally have lessons on the same day.

In short, Yes however, Adele is our only auto instructor currently so auto availability is very limited.

Absolutely. We’re not here to take your money. If you book a 40 hour course but we get you ready for your test in 35, you’ll be refunded pro-rata for 5 hours as soon as you pass. Equally, if 40 hours turns out to not be enough, further payment will be required for additional hours.

There are some terms and conditions and a cancellation notice period to adhere to.

Ideally, yes.

We can’t book you a practical test until you’ve passed your theory so whilst you can start the course without it, there’s no guarantees we can find you a suitable practical test date at short notice.

At the time of booking.

Some companies may make you wait until they find an instructor but not at Oh Savvy. We don’t book courses we can’t deliver and only use our own instructors.

If a company can’t give you the details of your instructor at the time of booking, they likely don’t have an instructor for you and are just hoping they can find one.

We give you an estimated start time to allow the previous courses extra time in case they need it. This is usually a window of a couple of weeks.

For example, if the learner on the course before yours misses a lesson due to sickness, car trouble or just needs extra time to get to test standard, we make sure we’re not letting them down by refusing or letting you down by running late.

Price is dependant on course length.

A 40 hour course including test fee and instructor time for test day is £2144
